This guide lines up 18 U.S. lenders that make personal loans in or near the $500 to $5,000 range, using loan sizes, APR ranges, terms, fees and funding times as listed on each lender's site or a reputable review site at our last review. Use it to judge any amone loan offer you receive, or to shop personal loans directly with confidence.
How this amone loan lender comparison works
Our comparison places 18 small and mid-size U.S. personal loan lenders side by side, so you can see typical loan sizes, cost ranges and timing before you accept any amone loan offer or apply on your own.
We are not a lender, and we do not rank the companies below. Some may or may not be part of the network that receives an amone loan request through our form, and nothing here tells you which lender will reply. The goal is simpler: show the real range of terms for personal loans of a few thousand dollars, so you can tell a fair offer from an expensive one.
The lenders fall into three rough groups. Online lenders such as Upgrade, Upstart, Avant and Best Egg tend to cap APRs near 36% and expect fair or better credit. Branch-based lenders such as OneMain Financial, Mariner Finance, Regional Finance and World Finance offer in-person service and often accept weaker credit. A third group, including OppLoans, NetCredit and Personify Financial, accepts thin or damaged credit but charges APRs far above 36%.
People weighing amone personal loans against direct lenders often notice that the lowest APR is not always the least expensive personal loan. Fees, term length and state rules change the total you repay.
What we checked for each personal loan lender
Each lender was reviewed on loan amounts, APR range, terms, origination fee, credit guidance, funding speed and state availability, using figures from the lender's site or an established review site.
- Loan amounts. Whether the lender makes personal loans near the $500 to $5,000 range.
- APR range. The published spread. Where none is published, we say it varies by state.
- Terms. Shorter terms raise the payment but cut total interest.
- Origination fee. Whether it is deducted from proceeds or added to the balance; see how an origination fee shrinks your deposit.
- Credit guidance. Any published minimum score, income floor or debt-to-income cap.
- Funding speed and state limits. Timing as the lender describes it, and where it does not operate.
Lenders change terms often, so treat this as background for an amone loan decision rather than a quote. Every figure is described as listed at our last review; confirm current numbers on the lender's own application. Figures we could not confirm were left out or marked as varying by state.

Two patterns stand out. Most online lenders start personal loans at $1,000 or $2,000, so a borrower who needs $500 often ends up with a branch lender or a higher-cost online lender. And the low end of each APR range goes to strong credit; our guide to personal loan rates explains why most borrowers land in the middle.
Lender-by-lender personal loan details
Every profile below covers loan sizes, costs, credit guidance and timing as listed at our last review, plus strengths, drawbacks and the borrower each lender tends to fit.
Oportun
Oportun makes unsecured personal loans from $300 to $10,000, and notes that new customers typically borrow $500 to $4,000. No prior credit history is required, which helps thin-file borrowers. A major review site listed APRs reaching 35.95%, and an administrative fee of up to 10% may come out of the proceeds. Funding was listed at one to four days, slower than many online lenders. Payments are reported to all three bureaus. Oportun may fit a first-time borrower who needs a modest amount and accepts a higher APR.
Mariner Finance
Mariner Finance lists personal loans from $1,000 to $25,000, with online loans of $1,500 to $14,000 and other amounts through branches. Its site showed APRs of 15.99% to 35.99% and terms of 12 to 72 months. Checking offers uses a soft inquiry; accepting one triggers a hard inquiry. The lowest APRs or largest amounts may require a lien on a newer vehicle, and origination fees depend on the state. Mariner fits fair-credit borrowers who like a branch nearby and will read the fee terms closely.
Regional Finance
Regional Finance lists personal loans from $600 up to $45,000, with top amounts tied to auto-secured loans and maximums that vary by state. It serves 20 states, mostly across the South and Southwest, through branches. Prequalifying online does not affect your score, according to the lender. APRs and fees vary by state, and a review site noted that larger loans may need a vehicle lien and that documents are often signed in a branch. Regional suits borrowers inside its footprint who want face-to-face help.
OneMain Financial
OneMain Financial lends $1,500 to $30,000 at 11.99% to 35.99% APR over two to five years, according to a major review site. Origination fees run 1% to 10% of the loan or a flat $25 to $500, depending on the state. There is no published minimum score, and joint or secured personal loans can help applicants with thinner credit. Approved loans may fund the same or next day to a debit card. OneMain skips several states. Decline any optional add-on products you do not want before signing.
World Finance
World Finance is a branch-based installment lender in 15 states, including Texas, Georgia and Tennessee. A review site lists personal loans from $450 to $12,000 over six to 48 months, often funded about one business day after verification. No APR range is published, so costs vary by state. A small origination fee may apply, and there is no soft-check prequalification, so applying usually means a hard inquiry. There is no prepayment fee. World fits someone who wants a small fixed-payment loan and in-person service.
Personify Financial
Personify Financial offers $500 to $15,000 over six months to four years, but APRs of 36% to 179.99% make it one of the costliest options here. An origination fee of up to 5.49% is added to the balance, so interest accrues on it. The published minimum score is 500, and same-day or next-day funding is possible. Personify serves 25 states and can cut the rate two points after six on-time payments. Treat this personal loan as a fallback after lower-cost lenders decline, and total the cost first.
OppLoans
OppLoans makes loans of $500 to $5,000 over nine months to two years at 99% to 195% APR, so even a short loan can cost far more than the amount borrowed suggests. A major review site found no origination fees, late fees or prepayment penalties, and loans approved by noon Central time may fund the same business day. Applicants generally need at least $18,000 in yearly income and a bank account. Consider OppLoans only after lower-APR personal loans have been declined, and borrow the smallest workable amount.
NetCredit
NetCredit offers installment loans of $1,000 to $10,000 over six to 60 months with no origination fee, according to a lending marketplace review. APRs run 34% to 99.99%, so interest on a long term can exceed the principal. The listed minimum score was 550, prequalification uses a soft inquiry, and funds may arrive the next business day. NetCredit skips 14 states plus Washington, D.C. It can fit a fair-credit borrower who compares it against any amone loan offer and commits to a short term.
LendingPoint
LendingPoint lends $1,000 to $36,500 at 7.99% to 35.99% APR over two to six years. Its published requirements are stricter than they look: a 640 minimum score, $35,000 in yearly income, a debt-to-income ratio under 45% excluding a mortgage, and two years of credit history. Origination fees run 0% to 10% depending on the state, and funds can arrive as soon as the next business day. LendingPoint fits fair-to-good credit borrowers who want a smaller personal loan with direct creditor payment.
Upgrade
Upgrade offers $1,000 to $75,000 at 7.74% to 35.99% APR over two to seven years, with the longest terms generally kept for larger loans. An origination fee of 1.85% to 9.99% comes out of the proceeds. The listed minimum score was 600, and funds typically arrive the next day. Upgrade offers a 0.5-point autopay discount and co-signed or vehicle-secured personal loans that may help thinner files. It suits fair-credit borrowers who want flexible loan options and a fully online process.
Avant
Avant lends $2,000 to $35,000 at 9.95% to 35.99% APR over two to five years. A major review site listed a 550 minimum score and at least $1,200 in monthly after-tax income, and the lender accepts fair or thin credit. An origination fee of up to 9.99% is deducted from the loan, and funds can arrive as soon as the next business day. Avant has no joint, co-signed or secured options and skips six states. It fits fair-credit borrowers who need a personal loan of $2,000 or more.
Universal Credit
Universal Credit offers $1,000 to $50,000 at 11.69% to 35.99% APR over two to five years. Its 5.25% to 9.99% origination fee is deducted before funding, which matters on a small loan: a 9.99% fee on $2,000 leaves about $1,800. The listed minimum score was 560, with a 75% maximum debt-to-income ratio. Funds usually arrive the next day, and autopay discounts are available. It fits fair-credit borrowers who accept a larger fee for looser approval standards on a personal loan.
Best Egg
Best Egg lends $2,000 to $50,000 with unsecured APRs of 6.99% to 35.99% and terms of three to five years only. Origination fees run 0.99% to 9.99%, the listed minimum score was 600, and funding is usually the next business day. A major review site reported the typical borrower receives 20% to 24.99% APR. Homeowners can secure a loan with permanent home fixtures, which creates a lien. Best Egg fits borrowers who need at least $2,000 and want a steady three-year or longer personal loan.
Achieve
Achieve makes personal loans from $5,000 to $50,000, touching only the top edge of the $500 to $5,000 range. APRs run 6.25% to 35.99% over two to five years, with origination fees of 1.99% to 9.99%. Applicants need a 640 minimum score and three years of credit history. Discounts are available for joint applications and direct payment to creditors. Funds are sent the day you sign, though banks may take a few days to post them. Achieve fits fair-to-good credit borrowers consolidating at least $5,000.
Happy Money
Happy Money offers personal loans only for paying off credit card debt, from $5,000 to $50,000 at 8.95% to 35.99% APR over two to five years. Origination fees range from 2% to 12%, one of the higher caps here. The listed minimum score was 620, with a 55% maximum debt-to-income ratio. Funds can go directly to card issuers, and autopay earns a 0.5-point discount. It fits a borrower with $5,000 or more in card balances who will not reuse the cleared cards.
Prosper
Prosper offers $2,000 to $50,000 at 8.99% to 35.99% APR over two to six years, with origination fees of 1% to 9.99%. The listed minimum score is 560, and the lender may weigh cash flow and bank history, which can help thin-file applicants. Joint applications are allowed, but co-signers and collateral are not. Most loans fund the day after approval. Late fees are the greater of 5% or $15 unless state law sets less. Prosper fits borrowers who want a joint personal loan option.
Upstart
Upstart lends $1,000 to $75,000 at 6.20% to 35.99% APR, most often over three or five years. It has no published minimum score and weighs factors such as education and work history, which can help younger borrowers with short credit histories. The catch is an origination fee that can reach 12%, deducted before funding. Funds typically arrive within one business day. Upstart offers no rate discounts or joint loans. It fits a borrower with limited credit history but steady income who wants a personal loan online.
Republic Finance
Republic Finance is a branch-based lender in 16 Southern and Midwestern states, offering secured and unsecured personal loans up to $25,000 at APRs up to 35.99% over 12 to 60 months, according to a review site. There is no published minimum score, and online prequalification uses a soft inquiry. Branch loans may fund the same day by check; online loans arrive in one to two business days. Origination and late fees may apply. Republic fits someone who wants in-person service and a fixed payment.
How to choose a personal loan lender
Choosing well means matching your credit, loan amount and timeline to the lenders most likely to approve you, then picking the personal loan with the lowest total cost you can comfortably repay.
Start with the amount you need
Borrowers who need $500 to $1,000 have fewer choices, because many online lenders start at $1,000 or $2,000. Borrowing more just to clear a lender's minimum adds interest you did not need to pay, whether you apply directly or through an amone loan request. Requesting exactly the gap is usually the smarter move.
Match your credit to the lender's range
With a score in the 600s or higher, start with lenders whose APRs top out near 36%. With a lower score, branch lenders and secured personal loans may still come in under 36% and are worth checking before any triple-digit option. Our overview of personal loan eligibility explains the income, debt and credit factors lenders weigh.
Weigh the fee against the APR
A lower APR with a high origination fee can cost more on a short loan than a slightly higher APR with no fee. Compare both using the amount you will actually receive, and confirm the lender operates in your state before applying.
Red flags when comparing personal loans
Warning signs include upfront fees before funding, pressure to sign the same day, missing APR disclosures, unsolicited loan checks in the mail and requests for gift cards or wire transfers.
- Fees before funding. Legitimate lenders deduct a fee from the loan or add it to the balance; they never ask you to pay first.
- No written APR. Lenders must disclose the APR and total cost before you sign.
- Pressure tactics. An offer that expires within the hour is built to stop you comparing.
- Mailed loan checks. Cashing one creates a loan, often at a high APR. Shred any you did not request.
- Bundled extras. Credit insurance or membership plans raise the cost; ask for a quote without them.
Borrower feedback helps too. When reading amone reviews or amone loan reviews, or ratings for any lender listed here, focus on billing accuracy, how hardship requests were handled and whether final terms matched the offer. Our team collects ratings on our own service separately, and nothing posted about amoneloans changes the lender figures on this page.
How to compare amone loan quotes side by side
Comparing amone loan quotes fairly means lining up the APR, monthly payment, total repaid, origination fee and term for each, then choosing the lowest total cost with a payment your budget can carry.
Here is an example from our estimate tables. Say you need $3,000. One lender offers 18 months at 24.99% APR: about $201.56 a month and about $3,628.09 repaid in total, roughly $628.09 in interest. A second offers 24 months at 35.99% APR: about $177.13 a month, but about $4,251.03 repaid. The smaller payment costs about $623 more. These are estimates only; actual terms come from the lender.
| Detail | Offer A | Offer B |
|---|---|---|
| APR | 24.99% | 35.99% |
| Term | 18 months | 24 months |
| Monthly payment | About $201.56 | About $177.13 |
| Total repaid | About $3,628.09 | About $4,251.03 |
Before you accept an amone loan, plug your own numbers into our personal loan payment calculator tool before deciding. Check whether the fee is deducted from your deposit, whether a prepayment penalty applies and whether autopay lowers the rate. If two personal loan offers land close on total cost, the lender with better hardship options is often the safer pick.
Where an amone loan request fits in
An amone loan request lets you see offers without filling out many separate applications: you complete one form, and lenders in our network may respond with terms you can measure against the lenders on this page.
Our form takes about five minutes, costs nothing and carries no obligation. Some lenders may run a soft credit check to show options; a hard check usually comes only if you move forward with a specific offer. Lenders make every decision and set every term. People who search amoneloans or amone lending often want exactly this kind of context before they commit to any amone loan.
Use the profiles above as a yardstick for any amone loan quote. If an amone loan offer shows $2,000 at 18% APR over 12 months, about $183.36 a month, you are near the lower end of the market for that size. If an offer comes in at a triple-digit APR, lower-cost amone personal loans or direct lenders may still be worth checking first. Each amone loan decision should rest on total cost, not the monthly payment alone.
Whatever route you take, whether direct or through amone lending, borrow only what you need, choose the shortest term you can afford and read the full agreement. A personal loan works best for a defined cost with a clear payoff date, not for ongoing monthly shortfalls.
Frequently asked questions
Why do APR ranges differ so much between these personal loan lenders?
Lenders serve different credit profiles. Many online lenders cap APRs near 36% and expect fair or better credit, while OppLoans, NetCredit and Personify Financial accept weaker credit and charge far higher APRs to cover more risk. State law also shapes pricing, so one company may quote different ranges in different states. Your own offer depends on your credit, income, debts and location.
Can I check these lenders and send an amone loan request at the same time?
Yes, but plan the order. Prequalification with a soft inquiry does not affect your score, so you can check several lenders that offer it. A formal application usually triggers a hard inquiry, and several close together can lower your score a few points. Gather soft-check offers first, compare total cost, then formally apply only for the offer you intend to accept.
Which of these lenders work with personal loans as small as $500?
At our last review, Oportun, Personify Financial, OppLoans and World Finance listed minimums at or below $500, and Regional Finance started at $600. Mariner Finance, NetCredit, LendingPoint, Upgrade, Upstart and Universal Credit started near $1,000, and several others started at $2,000 or $5,000. Minimums can rise in some states, so confirm the amount on the lender's own application.
